Sunday night rock concerts at the Little Theatre during the '70s were superb and always well attended. Margeret said that she remembered when she was 15 or 16 she would go to the Little Theatre every Saturday and buy the cheapest seats with her friend, "it was really quite something". Jackie remembered her husband performing in a minstrel show and she said "it looked amazing!"

Pat was friends with the hairdressers Rogeau and Johns and they did the hair for the actors, and so Pat went along with them to the shows with the free tickets the actors gave them. A particular one was the concert to raise money for the Bangladesh flood victims where plenty of bands came over from the UK.īrian remembered arriving in Guernsey and looking around, and he said "it was fantastic!" Unfortunately the theatre burnt down a few weeks later before he could watch an actual show. Pete remembered some of the great rock concerts that were performed there. She was a violinist in the early 1960's in their Easter productions which included Fiddler on the Roof & Sound of Music.ĭee remembered The Blind Boys who put on a show she said they were Michael Campbell and Neville Tostevin and were brought up by two unmarried ladies. Within 10 minutes the whole roof was ablaze and the flat I was in heated up quite alarmingly due to the ferocity of the blaze. I got up and looked out of my bedroom window to see flames licking the apex on the Eastern side of the theatre. I remember being woken in the early hours of (I think) Feb '84 to what sounded like mini explosions. My mother had the garden flat above the Little Theatre back in the '80s, next to the Salvation Army building. Also saw bands there like Edison Lighthouse. It was a great place to play hiding seek. I grew up in Clifton Steps so my playground was around the Little Theatre, riding my bike down the hill and just stopping before reaching the steps.
